Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The title pretty much says it all, folks: A gorgeous ET cosies up to an eccentric scientist (a disarmingly straight Dan Ackroyd) in an attempt to save her dying planet and falls in love in the process. Much wackiness ensues. Art it ain't, but this likably lightweight film does deliver the laughs, with assured leading performances (for once, Kim Basinger's formica loveliness is utilised as an effective comedic asset), a surprisingly bawdy sense of humour and a riotous supporting turn by a then dewy-fresh Jon Lovitz. --Andrew Wright

5.0 out of 5 stars Basinger Brilliance, 15 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Kim Basinger plays alien Vicky Rogers in this romantic comedy. Alien Kim sets out to seduce Dan Ackroyd to uncover the secret of how he sent an energy ray from earth. Vickys attempts to understand American culture has hilarious effects.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy DVD!!!!!!, 4 Sep 2001
By A Customer
This DVD is a must for all Kim Basinger fan, her performance is Stepmother is only surpassed when she played Vicky....... in Batman. For non Basinger fans (Why?!?) there is sitll enough in the film to justify it's purchase, aliens, talking handbags, a clever storyline you will keep coming back for more. p.s For all Basinger fans I also recommend Blind Date. (Just don't let your friends borrow it)

5.0 out of 5 stars Kim Basinger - Drool, 12 Aug 2000
This is a must buy for all film lovers! Kim is a spitting image of Vicky in this film and it is worth buying it for that alone.

The clever understated humour will have you coming back for more.

This movie will have you reaching for your hankies.

This was a film that I found mildly diverting when i saw it as a kid, but like so many of these 80s comedy star vehicles, they are more likely to make me grimace than laugh. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars They're here!
I've been a fan of Dan Aykroyd for a good many years, and even though 'Stepmother' isn't one of his best films, it's been a film I've liked for years also, and it's nice to... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars I've got to get home to that good pie.
This is a much underrated movie. It is amusing and informative on many levels.
